The Information & Communication Technology with a specialism in Data Informatics program offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers foundational skills in mathematics, language, communication, and core information technology.
Semester 1 focuses on acquiring basic mathematical, language, communication, and information technology skills. Students develop an understanding of fundamental concepts and terminology related to technology and business management.
Semester 2 builds upon the foundation established in the first semester, advancing language and communication skills to more advanced levels of research and professionalism. Students enhance their ability to analyze and solve problems using quantitative skills and gain familiarity with technology.
Semester 3 takes students to a new level in information and communication technology, covering areas such as computer programming, databases, internet applications, and computer system architecture. They learn to use computing tools and techniques to solve real-world problems.
Semester 4 introduces more advanced development concepts, including the system development life cycle. Students specialize in data analytics, exploring topics such as big data, data warehousing, and data mining. They also learn usability principles in web design, and software engineering processes, and gain an understanding of algorithmic thinking.
Semester 5 focuses on designing and implementing algorithms using a second programming language. Students gain insights into behavioral science, marketing analytics, and artificial intelligence techniques used in software design and data informatics. The semester culminates in a software development project where students apply data informatics techniques for problem-solving.
Semester 6 entails an internship or industrial training of at least 8 weeks, providing students with practical experience and preparing them for a smooth transition into the working environment.
Upon successful completion of this programme and fulfillment of requirements for credit transfer, you will be eligible to progress into Level 2 of the following degree programmes offered at APU

Students who joined the Diploma in Information & Communication Technology with a specialism in Data Informatics at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
